“Necessity is the mother of invention” perfectly describes how Bolt was created. The Largo, Florida-based founders of Bolt spent years working on side projects designing, building, and repairing golf carts. Over time, they grew frustrated with unreliable lithium batteries and inconsistent dealer support from suppliers. Unwilling to compromise their standards or disappoint customers, they set out to build a better solution.
Bringing together more than 40 years of combined electronics experience, advanced technical education, and extensive engineering expertise in motors and drive systems, the team committed themselves to developing a superior battery system.
After three and a half years of research, prototyping, and testing, Bolt was launched. Built with automotive-grade lithium-ion cells and assembled using a laser welding process, the batteries are designed to fit virtually any cart. They charge in as little as 1.5 hours and support 3,500–5,000 cycles. All batteries include a 12-year total coverage warranty with 6 years of full replacement coverage, a 2-year warranty on all chargers and 1-year warranty on all other accessories.
Our Founders
Bolt was created by two experienced golf cart dealers frustrated by unreliable lithium batteries and poor customer support. They focused on research and development with one clear goal: build the best battery for their dealership in Largo, Florida.
As development began, they discovered dealers across the industry shared the same frustrations. After connecting with others and hearing similar stories, their vision expanded beyond their own shop. Bolt’s mission became to create the best battery in the world for dealers everywhere – delivering performance, safety, reliability, and peace of mind.
